Bonehead's Sides

Sides, Salads and Cobblers

Granny's Famous Tater Salad  Now, Granny wanted to call our Bonehead's Texas BBQ, LLC's tater salad "Ron White." You may not understand this, but Mr. White is a comedian that goes by Ron "Tater Salad" White. Mr. White has a pretty good sense of humor, but I don't think he would appreciate Granny's humor. He probably would want a piece of the pie, a leaf of the lettuce—if you know what I mean. If you like tater salad, Granny's is made differently than any tater salad you've ever had.

A Little Kick  In fact, more often than not, we hear people say, "wow, this has a little kick to it! Oh, this is good!" It's a nice surprise to have this in your mouth. We really don't know how to tell you about this other than you just gotta try it.  Most tater salad is served cold, but that defeats a lot of the flavor so, we serve our Tater Salad warm.

If Ron White ever steps into our kitchen, we'll give him a free serving—you, however, we expect to pay. Anyway, use this to impress your friends—heck, tell 'em it's your own recipe! Only you, Bonehead's and God will know the truth, and Bonehead's answers to God. We hope you do, too!

Wait, Who's This Granny You Keep Talkin' About?—

A Word from Our Owner
Now Granny is about the finest, sweetest, person you could ever meet. I'm fortunate enough for her to be my mom. Oh man, she can cook! Cookin' with Granny is a real treat. If you want to learn something you better watch, because all she knows about cookin' is measured in smidgens and pinches, this and that. I wish you could taste her hot rolls. I've seen grown men darn near get into fisticuffs over the last hot roll at the table. (I always get the last one cause I fight the hardest.) Granny has one of the best senses of humor of anyone you'll meet. She's sharp as a tack and still cruisin' and cookin'. She's slowed down some, but there's a little bit of Granny in everything from Bonehead's. All of us love it that way and that's the way it will always be! Mom, I love you and thanks for teaching me how to cook!

—With Love from Your Best-Lookin' Son, Dave  say hi to my sisters!

Granny's Famous Baked Beans  This is really pinto beans seasoned like they oughta be.  You ever been to a restaurant and they serve you beans that are flavorless.  How stinkin’ boring is that!  Don’t it just get your undies in a bunch?  That’s because it takes more money to make good beans –more seasonings and stuff.  We don’t care.  We want you to have beans good enough to eat with a slice of bread and that’s it.

Well, you can do that if you have Bonehead’s cater for you.  Now, we don’t have a talking’ dog or anything goofy like that.  We just have darn good beans.  Are you still readin’ this dribble?  Grief, get a life!  Naw, get sum of Granny’s Famous Baked Beans!  You’ll immediately make friends. In fact, you give ‘em these beans and you may never get ‘em to leave!

Gitcha sum!!

Dang Fresh Cole Slaw  Do you like to have watery, weak tastin’ dressing on your cole slaw?   Yeah, well neither do we.  That’s why we make our dressing thick, creamy sweet and tangy with a hint of citrus for your fresh cabbage.  Now don’t make more coleslaw than you plan to eat at one setting, because it just doesn’t stay crispy when you have it for leftovers.  Oh, it still tastes good, but the cabbage gets a little wilted and it just isn’t Dang Fresh.  Now, what da ya say.  Try a bottle of this Dang Fresh Cole Slaw Dressing.  I’ll betcha  you use it for more than cabbage.  I certainly do.  If you don’t like it, send it back!

Cole Slaw

Here’s how we make our cole slaw.  Take as much cabbage (purple and/or green) as you think you’ll eat in one setting and slice it up.  Now, slice it, don’t grate it.  Slicing it makes it stay crisp longer.  Add sum grated carrots, add whatever else you think you might like.  Now, we don't so this, but Granny always added chopped apples, pecans, every once in a while she would put in raisins, too.

Now, pour some Dang Fresh Cole Slaw Dressing on it (you can always add more or if you get too much, add more cabbage).  Stir it up good and eat it all!  You’re gonna love this stuff!

Hey!  Did you know my nephew uses our Dang Fresh Cole Slaw Dressing for everything!!  Dips, chips, hamburgers, meats.  He says we named it wrong 'cause it's so good for so many things.  We hope you like it as much as Scott does.

Gitcha Sum!!

House Salad  We call this our "House Salad" but it's anything but a plain ol' salad.  We start with Fresh Romaine lettuce, mix with fresh baby spinach and add the following stuff:  chopped eggs, REAL bacon bits we make from baked bacon, bell pepper, carrots, thin sliced purple onion, grape tomatoes - you know, those lil' bitty fellers, sliced mushrooms and three grated cheeses.  We provide our special Spring Citrus Dressing on the side or you can use our Dang Fresh Cole Slaw Dressing.  This is a meal by itself.  Oops! Forget that.  It's a great starter to any of our BBQ.

Gitcha Sum!!

Peach Cobbler  You're as full as a tick on a hound dog when you discover we got cobbler!  You know you're gonna make room for this!  Fresh peaches (when available, never canned), sum butter, cinnamon, other good stuff you can find out about if you beg and crispy crust!  OH, this is so good!  Yep, this is right next to the pulled pork at the pearly gates!  Are you gonna be there?  Great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack - there's no bad time for cobbler.  We make other flavors if you ask, but this is our standard.

Gitcha Sum!!
